Here Are 9 Tips Before Planning Your Next Instagram Reel
Now that 2021 is nearing its end, we can expect that video content will continue to rise on Instagram. With that said, if you haven’t started creating Reels for your business, you may need to think about incorporating this into your content strategy going into 2022 if you want to increase your engagement.
There’s definitely more to it than just dancing and pointing and I’m going to share 15 tips below to help you create Instagram Reels to stop the scroll and capture their attention.
1) Start with a plan. The best Reels require thoughtful planning. Ask yourself:
What is the Reel going to be about?
What do you want your audience to do after watching it?
What music will you include? (if any?)
How long will the Reel be? (15, 30, 60 seconds?)
2) Be CREATIVE. If you create similar content that everyone else is making, your followers may get bored and stop watching. What can you do that your competitors aren’t doing? How can you take a Reel that’s trending and add your own spin on it?
3) Provide value. Yes, there are still a lot of people that make dance videos that are entertaining, but if you’re trying to grow your business, you may want to focus on creating educational or information content. Use Reels as a way to education your audience on what you know.
4) Hop on trends. Trends come and go really quick, so if you’re stuck on ideas I suggest going to TikTok. Trends on TikTok seem to show up first before they start showing up on Instagram. This Instagram account gives you updates on the latest trends which is also a great resource.
5) Start with a hook. This matters because this “hooks” your audience to continue watching the rest of your videos. You can hook your audience by using special effects, test or even an image. So while planning your content, think about what would make someone stop and pay attention and watch?
6) Try to use transitions. This is where it can get tricky and may need a little practice. Using transition keeps your audience engaged and interested in what’s about to come next.
7) Take advantage of stickers and text. It’s not enough for people to hear the music or sound effects in the background, but adding stickers also helps keep your audience interested.
8) Keep captions short. When your caption is too, your audience may not have enough time to read it since Reels are short. Keep your captions short in the Reel, but you can include a long text in the post caption.
9)Be consistent. Don’t expect your first reel to go viral. To truly see results, you have to post consistently. If you’re just getting started, try posting a Reel at least once a week.
