Why You Should be Creating Workflows In Your Business
Before we get into the importance of having a workflow, let’s define what a workflow is. A workflow is a sequence that outlines all of the steps - from to start to finish - to complete a task. Some examples of workflows are, onboarding a client, creating your content, creating a podcast or invoicing a client. It’s important to keep track of any repeatable steps in your business.
Why?
First, it makes your business run more efficiently when you have workflows of all of your processes. How many times have you had to stop to remember all the steps you took to complete a task? Especially when months have passed since you last completed that task, you can waste hours on trying to remember everything you have done months ago. Definitely not efficient.
How do you begin to create a workflow?
Think of all of the repeated tasks you currently have in your business and document it. Is your onboarding process always the same? Document it. Do you have a process for marketing your business? Document it. Do you have a process for invoicing your clients? Document it!
If you don’t want to type all of your processes, then record yourself performing these tasks. Loom is a free tool to record your screen.
This can benefit you in the future when you start to grow your team. Since you have all of your processes recorded, all you have to do is send your new team member your recorded training! How easy is that!? I personally love when my clients record training for me because it helps me see step by step how they want me to perform a task.
