Tips to Effectively Work with a VA
Working with my clients as a VA can be a lot of fun, but it also has its challenges. Especially in my first year, there were a lot of things I still needed to learn when it came to improving communication and setting client expectations.
If you are currently working with a VA and you feel like you’re VA isn’t working for you, here are x things I have learned to work more efficiently with my clients.
1) Overcommunicate with your VA. There were times when I have received a task with no instructions of how I should complete it. This just made me confused and frustrated since I didn’t know what the client wanted. So if you want your tasks to be done the right way, create a screen recording or detailed instructions of how you want your VA to complete the task.
2) Be realistic. Your VA may be working with other clients, so to ask your VA to complete a task ASAP may not be realistic. Understand that your VA needs to prioritize other tasks, so the more organized you are in your business, the more likely tasks can be done by your deadline.
3) Be respectful of each other’s boundaries. Your VA does not work 24/7. So when hiring a VA, understand their working hours and respect that. If they don’t work on weekends, don’t expect a response if you send them a text or an email on the weekend.
4) Have regular meetings. This helps me keep track of what my clients are working for and what I can expect. Even if the meeting is only 15 minutes, by having a meeting, you can follow up on any pending tasks and can get a date on when to expect other tasks to be done.
