4 Myths About Working with a Virtual Assistant
Now that I’ve been a Virtual Assistant for almost 3 years, I’ve started to realize the common myths that others have about Virtual Assistants (VA). Outsourcing tasks to a VA can be the best investment to your business, but this doesn’t mean that they can do everything. I’ll go into this in more detail in the 4 myths about hiring a VA below.
Myth #1: Virtual Assistants can do it all. While a VA are trained in many different tasks, a VA can’t do it all. There are VA’s that specialize in project management, social media, bookkeeping. So, if these are tasks you need support within your business, you should find a VA that specialize in those things.
Myth #2: Virtual Assistants are always available when you need them. When you hire a VA, make sure you know they’re availability. Since VA’s are supporting other clients, you may need to work on being more organized so that they can meet your deadlines.
Myth #3: A Virtual Assistant won’t be able to perform tasks the way you want them to. I’ve personally heard someone say this during a discovery call. If you know you need to hire a VA but are afraid that tasks won’t be done the way you want them to, there is a way around that! I suggest doing a video tutorial using Loom and record yourself performing the task. I LOVE when clients send me video tutorials because I am more confident that I am getting things done the way the clients want.
Myth #4: Being a Virtual Assistant is easy. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being a VA and I LOVE what I do, BUT it does take a lot of work. There are going to be days when I felt like giving up. So, it does take a person with drive and motivation to make it as a VA.
