I Launched my First Podcast? Now What?

You finally released your first few podcast episodes that you worked so hard on and now the question is, “How do I grow my audience?”

Putting your podcast out there is a major first step! You spent so much time planning, recording and recording your first episodes that now you want to announce it to the world, but word of mouth alone will only get you so far.

Here are 3 tips to help you grow your podcast audience.

Who is your target audience?

Even though you may feel like your podcast is for everyone, think about the audience who is most likely to benefit from your podcast. Are they work from home moms? Are they women who want to start a business? Is your podcast about mindset?

The more specific your topic is, the easier it will be to plan upcoming episodes and speak to that specific audience.

Research your podcast audience

Now that you’re clear on who your target audience is, find out what social media platform they are using. Are they on TikTok? Instagram? Facebook Groups? Knowing where the majority of your target audience is will help you spend your marketing efforts on one platform instead of trying to market yourself on every single social media platform. (Which WILL lead to burnout!)

Promote your podcast:

Now that you know which social media platform the majority of your podcast audience is, it’s time to create promotional content. Here are a few tips to promote your podcast:

  • Post about your latest podcast episode on the day of or the day after your podcast episode releases

  • Tag any guests that have in your episode (if you have any).

  •  Reply to comments to keep your audience engaged

  • Create several forms of content including short audio clips, carousel posts and quotes to promote your episodes.

  • Host a giveaway to encourage others to follow or rate your podcast.

  • Promote your latest episode to your email list
